I am a skilled freelance translator, specialising in literary translation. I provide quality translations from German, French and Welsh into English, and am a member of the Society of Authors’ Translators Association. With over 30 years’ professional translation experience, and as a published novelist and short story-writer, I have the proven skills to convey literary works that require close attention to the author’s voice.
I won the Translators’ House Wales – Oxfam Cymru 2010 Translation Challenge with the translation of a short story by Haitian author Yanick Lahens, and was subsequently commissioned to translate the novel The Colour of Dawn (La Couleur de l’Aube) by the same author. I took part in the Translation Challenge again in 2012 for the fascinating 26 Treasures project, with my translation of a poem by Tony Bianchi appearing in the beautiful book that accompanied it.
